E10 solbjørnneset
lofoten 2010-2014
Four avalanche galleries shielding the road against falling rocks from the steep mountain slopes above the only road interconnecting the Lofoten islands.
Our main focus was to create an open and light atmosphere maximizing the view towards the majestic North Atlantic Ocean. The section of the galleries opens up towards the sea, enabling the low northern sun to fill the whole space.
The project won the European Concrete Award in 2016, and recieved honorable mention in the 2015 Norwegian Concrete Award (Betongtavlen)
